It’s Podcasts. Daaaaaaaaarling.

No-one can accuse me of not being cool and stylish. I once owned a Royal Blue Gola shellsuit, and I don’t even use a comb in my hair. So therefore it’s only fitting that today Fresh Air is launching its most stylish podcast yet – What Were You Thinking? With Henry Holland , in association with Vestiaire Collective.

More importantly perhaps, it’s the most consumer-focused piece of work we’ve ever created, with the idea of product sales perfectly integrated into both the podcast and the digital activity that supports it. So, if you’ve ever wondered how podcasts could be used in B2C to drive trackable ROI and sales, you can read my blog about it right here .

But enough of banging on about our own coolness/cleverness. Here are your podcast recommendations for the week.

The Rule of Three

As recommended by me, Neil Cowling – Bath FM breakfast radio host 2001 – 2003.

The Rule of Three is for comedy geeks. I am a comedy geek.

Therefore idea of listening to people who love Father Ted as much as I do talking about the intricacies of Father Ted for an hour is my perfect idea of a podcast. See also – Bottom, Young Ones, Blue Jam, Royle Family etc. Jason Hazeley and Joel Morris have written for Charlie Brooker, Philomena Cunk and many others, so they know everything about comedy and know everyone in it.

In each episode, a different comedian or comedy writer picks a show they love and takes it apart. If you don’t like the show they choose, the episode won’t be for you. But if you love it, this is an hour of nerdy indulgence. I love it, and so did the judges of the British Podcast Awards. It just won best cultural podcast.

“So Neil. What’s your secret sauce?” is a question I’m often asked. However, as you know by now, I run an audio production company, not a kebab van, so I always assume that the question means “How do you make wonderful, engaging and effective podcasts?”. Well, good news, because the answers are here: My favourite…

Podcasts- Officially the deep diving media

I believe a whole load of stuff that I have never seen proven. I have deeply held convictions on things like the right way to place a toilet roll (new sheet hanging at the front), whether right footed footballers should ever play on the left wing (obviously not – the defender always knows they’ll have…

Audio reflections on a disturbing time

We’ve recently started emailing podcast recommends to our contacts and friends. Last week, we focused on the Black Lives Matter protests and got a great response, so we’re sharing this as a blog too. In a year which has already seen a huge amount of change, I feel the protests have given hope to many…
